Tipping the King, week two

The Big Idea: When it comes to money, most people are either blessed or stressed.

This message challenges us to examine our relationship with money and how it reflects our faith. The central theme revolves around the spiritual discipline of tithing - not just giving, but giving the first 10% of our income to God. While we’re reminded that Jesus spoke about money more than prayer or faith, this message isn't about manipulation or getting rich quick, but about trusting God and allowing Him to bless us in ways we can't contain. The parallel between our financial priorities and our spiritual priorities is striking - where we put our money reveals where we've put our heart. As we consider this, we're encouraged to step out in faith, not just giving our leftovers, but honoring God with our first fruits.

Daily Devotions

Day 1: Putting Jesus First

Devotion:

Last week, we learned that it's important to put Jesus first in everything we do. Just like rocks in a jar come before the sand and pebbles, Jesus should be our big rock, the foundation we build our lives on. Remember when The Rock appeared on TV and seemed like a sign to put Jesus, the true Rock, first?

Reflection Questions:

  1. Why do you think it's important to make Jesus your priority?
  2. Think about three big "rocks" in your life. Is Jesus one of them?

Additional Scripture:

Matthew 6:33 - "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Day 2: Understanding Tithing

Devotion:

Today, we talked about the spiritual discipline of tithing. Tithing is not just giving; it's the special way of giving the first 10% back to God. God doesn't need our money, but it's a way for us to show that we trust Him and put Him first.
