Have you ever wondered why Jesus needed to be buried? Why didn't He simply die on the cross, pause for dramatic effect, and then step off the cross resurrected? In this Easter message, Paul suggests that God planted Jesus deep in the tomb and lit a 3-day fuse so that He could completely destroy the works of the devil, and compares that to Luke Skywalker making sure that his weapons got to the center of the Death Star. When we understand the principle that God uses pain to plant His power, we'll start carrying the resurrection power planted in us - weapons of mass restoration! - to the places and people that need it deeply.
Bible Reading: Joshua 5:13-15; Isaiah 6:1-4
Devotional: As we explore the resurrection, let us begin by recognizing the divine authority of God. Just as Joshua encountered the commander of the Lord's army and recognized the holy ground he stood on, we too must acknowledge that God is above all - even death itself. Reflect on God's holiness and the power it brings into our lives, and how the resurrection validates His lordship over everything.
Questions for Reflection:
Bible Reading: Colossians 2:15; John 4:13-14
Devotional: Today, meditate on the strategic placement of Christ's resurrection, like a fuse leading to an explosion of divine power. Christ's victory on the cross was publicly displayed, and His time in the tomb was a prelude to a greater revelation of power. Consider how Jesus provides living water that becomes a geyser of eternal life within us, empowering us to share in His victory.
